This is a quote from my first post about financial intelligence in MLM Network Marketing: “I can tell you from personal experience from previous businesses that making a lot of money and/or making more and more money without a strong foundation of financial intelligence or financial literacy and the proper mind set to keep that money and to have our money work for us, our big MLM dream will only be a dream.”

And in my previous post about financial intelligence in MLM Network Marketing, I promised to tell you more about my qualification to write about this matter. OK, let me reveal it.

I have been a successful self-employed financial consultant for more than 13 years now. That means, I’ve got a certain knowledge and experience in giving financial advice (investing, insurance, mortgages) to people.

However, that does not automatically mean that I advised myself properly. It took me 12 years in this profession to realize that I’m stuck in the Rat Race and that making more money isn’t a solution if I simply trade € against my time. The more money I made, the less money I had and the more tired I became. It can’t be a solution to realize my dreams either because my time is limited and in this profession, I’ve got no chance to leverage my time.

I realized that the financial packages I sold to my clients and to myself are perfect for people who want to work until 65 or even 67 and who don’t want to worry too much about their money and how to invest it. And this holds true for most of my clients. So for them, I’ve made an awesome job.

But what about me ? I realized that I’ve got other goals than my clients and that I needed different advice, makes sense ? As soon as I realized that I’m stuck in the Rat Race and that there’s a chance to escpape from it if I change the way I make my money, I had a hard time doing my job because my motivation was suddenly very low. With low motivation in this job, less sales than usually, less income. Does that sound familiar ? That isn’t intelligent, financially.

And that was one of the hardest truths I had to swallow: I, as a successful financial consultant for my clients, was financially blind when it comes to my own financial goals and my own money. And if you ask me what qualifies me to write about this subject, then I point out at first that I faced this truth and that I swallowed my professional pride and accepted this truth.

After that, I was able to deal with this truth and to create another truth. And then I learned, I read tons of books, I argued with my wife, I listened to tons of tapes and hired coaches and mentors.

Influenced by the books of Robert Kiyosaki and his coaching, I asked myself the following questions: How can I leverage my time ? How can I step by step remove myself from the equation ? This process of expanding my context was sometimes painful, but necessary. Now I’ve got a different mindset than I had a year ago. A year ago, I had the financial mindset of the middle class having to work until the age of 65 or 67.

Worse than that, I strongly believed that this is normal because I was programmed that way. Now I’ve got the financial mindset of the rich, I strongly believe that it is normal to be rich and to have my money work for me instead of me working for money – and I strongly believe that I deserve it.

Let’s say, the last two fiscal years 2008 and 2009 were a roller coaster: Record income in 2008 despite financial crisis, the best start I ever had beginning 2009 – at the end of the day half the income in 2009 compared to 2008 – on a high level still, but I deep down knew that I had to change something. Working more in this job in order to make more money again in this job wasn’t a solution. If I had followed my old winning formula, it would have been a losing formula at the end of the day.

I’m going to tell you in upcoming posts how I found my solution and my new winning formula. And then I’m going to develop how a mindset for long-lasting financial success in MLM Network Marketing should be designed according to my experiences and how a proper MLM Network Marketing Business looks like if we follow this mind set.

If you want to learn more about the backgrounds you may want to download Michael Dlouhy’s MLM ebook “Success in 10 steps”. He’s my mentor in MLM Network Marketing. If not for him and Mentoring for Free, I would be in an MLM Network Marketing business today that is not based on the sound principles of financial intelligence. Refer to Mentoring for Free in order for you to learn more about this system and its teachings.
