Today I want so share with you my major social media sites I’m part of beginning with Facebook and Twitter and – of course – invite you to visit them and follow and/or add me as a friend or contact.

My blog is my central hub. All my social media efforts are pretty much designed to attract targeted traffic to my blog.

In order to fulfill this goal, I forward my blog posts to as many social media networks as I possibly can.

Social media presence is pretty much an art and a science – it’s about being all over the place without wasting too much time in front of the computer and without spreading oneself too thin.

And it’s about getting started.

That’s why I focus particularly on four sites, beginning with Facebook and Twitter.

1. Facebook

Facebook is a great site in order to attract people, to showcase successes and to share valuable information with people – for example blog posts.

The application Networked Blogs is a connection between Facebook and your blog. Everytime I publish a post, Networked Blogs will post it to my Facebook wall.

Please feel free to join this blog by clicking on the “follow”-button on the right side bar of this post. I appreciate it.

You can also pull your blog feed to your Facebook profile – exactly to your Notes box where the posts remain forever (unlike your wall).

I run a group on Facebook, it’s called “Success in MLM Network Marketing through education and teamwork”. Nomen est omen.

Please visit the site and feel free to join it. Only make sure to read and follow the group’s description. In any case, behaviour of people in Facebook groups is very telling.

On the groups’s wall, I also share my blog posts, videos etc.

Just recently, I created Oliver Tausend’s fan page.

Please visit the site and feel free to fan me.

Come back often, post your own stuff to the wall and comment on my contributions and those of other people.

You can  become a fan by “liking” me on the widget on the right side bar of this post.

Together with my wife, I founded a German MLM group on Facebook.

Don’t forget to friend me on Oliver Tausend’s personal Facebook profile.

My Facebook strategy is changing constantly. So I’m always open to your feedback. Especially when it comes to my fan page, I’m far away from being done.

Shama Kabani gives on her post “The Changing Face of Facebook Marketing – 5 Things you MUST Know” a great outlook into the future of Facebook marketing.

2. Twitter

My Twitter username is @luckyoliver70. Please follow me. I’ll follow back.

At the moment, I’m using Twitter for the following purposes:

–> redirect new followers to my Facebook profile
–> publish my own stuff (blog posts, videos, inspirational quotes etc.), works also through Networked Blogs by the way
–> retweet and share other people’s stuff
–> communicate with folks through @replies and – rarely – direct messages
–> occasionally share the free MLM eBook “Success in 10 steps”
–> showcase my successes and testimonials

So I use Twitter pretty much to attract people to my blog, to my Facebook profile etc. and to turn them into consumers of my content which ultimately leads to business.

As automation tools, I use Socialoomph, Tweetadder, Tweetdeck and Twitterfeed.

Of course, I’m always trying to improve my strategy.

If you have any questions or suggestions, if you feel stuck in your strategy, overwhelmed – please ask me or download the free free MLM ebook “Success in 10 steps” in order to learn more.

Of course, don’t forget to get updates from this directly delivered to your inbox, if you think that you can learn something from me, for free of course.

What is your opinion ?

I always love your reaction, so please leave me a comment down below with questions, thoughts, or feedback.

And (yes, here’s my call to action) please share this post with your Twitter and Facebook friends by clicking on the share buttons.

I appreciate you telling others.

To a prosperous life,

    Hey Oliver

I have to admit I do not use Twitter much except to share other people’s stuff.

Looks like I have to work on this :)

    Thanks for the post Oliver.

    Hi Peter,
well, sharing other people’s stuff is already very honourable. So it might really be a good idea to occassionally add your stuff to your tweets. Have a blessed holiday weekend and take care

  3. Oliver excellent blueprint on how it should be done. Of course like you mentioned your strategies will change but the end is the same. Build relationships and build your business. Great post.

    Hi Steve,
the key is: The end has always been the same since centuries. These rules didn’t change. A couple of people seem to think that social media on the internet would have made this end obsolete. Nothing could be farther from the truth. There’s no shortcut. Build know, like and trust over time and everything else will fall into place. Thanks for your great comment.
    Take care

Oliver: This is a great blueprint for using Facebook and Twitter, especially for those just starting out. I think a lot of people feel overwhelmed when they first start out with social media, thinking they have to be everywhere and spreading themselves too thin.

I think it’s wise to start out with one medium, as you’ve done, and add other mediums as you have the time to devote to them.

  6. Hi Oliver,
Facebook is an art in itself. I have found one of the best things for me there is my group. You can build a very strong relationship with many people by sending out good value messages. The secret with these is that they are not too frequent otherwise people get fed up. I find every 4-6 days is good.

Well I don’t know how you guys do it, maybe I’m just not the social network type but so far I can’t even get my “Friends” to comment on my video’s or blog posts and Twitter just seems to be a random list of comments with no homogeneous thread. Maybe I just have not found my Rosetta Stone or is it that I’m just ain’t found my tribe yet?

    Hi Pete,
thanks for your comment. It takes consistent effort time without any results at the beginning and for a pretty long period of time. And then – all of a sudden- you take off the ground. Most people miss that take off because they quit. The advice is: Start with one site, master it and then go the next.
    Take care

    Hi Oliver,
Thanks for the encouraging words, I guess this is probably the case but it’s hard trying to wade through mud for a sustained period, however, I am not about to quit as I know there are people out there making their way in the blogosphere that are no better than me, they have just reached the highway already and I am stuck up a side road with speed bumps built in.

  9. Hey Oliver,

Very fitting topic, especially because a lot of people are using Social Media to grow their business. Unfortunately, they aren’t doing it the right way.

Just as you indicated in here, the way you are using Facebook and Twitter is the right way to do it. That will build your leadership qualities much faster.

    Hi Jerome,
thanks for your comment. We all started at one point, and I did stuff at the beginning of my FB career I would never do again – I cringe when I think about it. So it’s a process. We need to be open to feedback an willing to learn from others.
