Blog Syndication Tutorial – I recently was called Mr. Syndication by my friend Natasha Nassar in a comment on my blog at that MLMbeat Thank you Natasha, I feel honoured.
What are the benefits from syndication ? Social bookmarking sites have become my second most important traffic source after Facebook. Stumbleupon for example sends me more traffic than Twitter. I realized that visitors from DIGG and Stumbleupon stay on average more than 5 minutes on my blog, people coming from delicious even 11 minutes, visitors from Twitter only 1.5 minutes. Average time on site for my blog regarding all traffic sources is 3.75 minutes. All numbers according Google Analytics.
These are the short-term effects in quanity and quality. Longterm, social bookmarking sites are part of my spider web strategy to be all over the place on the internet.
Let me show you in this tutorial video how I share my own blog posts on the various social media and social bookmarking sites, for example Delicious, Stumbleupon, DIGG, Twitter, Facebook and the Unified Tribe.
The most important tools I use for that are Ping.fm, Socialoomph, the Stumbleupon toolbar and the AddThis-toolbar.
I do pretty much the same procedure with my YouTube-videos.
Hint: I used to use OnlyWire for syndication as well, but I found this service not reliable and so I stopped using it. If someone else has made good experiences with OnlyWire, I’d be please to hear about that.
Very important: Syndication isn’t a one-way-street. Natasha wouldn’t have called me Mr. Syndication if I only shared and syndicated my own blog posts. Blog syndication is about reciprocity, so share other’s people stuff as much as you possibly can.
So what is your opinion ?
I always love your feedback, so please leave me a comment down below with questions, thoughts, or feedback.

Hey Oliver
Isn’t amazing what we can glean out of google analytics.
And I agree, blog syndication is about reciprocity, but mor eimportantly one must start the process by sharing other blogs first.

Hi Peter,
exactly, one has to do the first step.
Normally I’m not dwelling on analytics, but these average visit times really amazed me.
Thanks for your comment.
Take care

Hello Oliver,
You truly deserved the title Mr. Syndication. I truly appreciate you for sharing these stuffs . Actually I’ve been using bookmarking sites as well for quite some time now and I am so pleased with the results. It’s really amazing how it helped me broadcast and promote my own site. I also like the last point about how we can also share other people stuffs.
Cheers to that,
Ana

Hi Ana,
sharing other people’s stuff generously is even more important. It’s about giving. Every single link out there on the internet counts, even if it’s only a weak one.
Thanks for your comment.
Take care

Hey Oliver,
Thanks for sharing this brilliant video. On the face of it, it looks like a lot of work, but when you do it several times, it doesn’t actually make too much extra work at all, and the benefits of it look amazing.
Thanks also for a detailed analysis of the visits and time spent from each traffic source. That’s great info.

Hi Wayne,
thanks for your comment. It takes about 10 minutes. The cool thing is, it’s a perfect task to delegate, and I can use this tutorial as instruction.
Take care

Hy Oliver, you´re giving away so much real content again and it´s time to implement it! It takes just a few minutes but it can be really beneficial.

Hi Oliver!
Mr. Syndication is so fitting of you. I know that I need to syndicate more of my content on more sites, but I’ve made it a “bigger job” in my mind than it appears to be. Looking at all you accomplished in your short video, there really is no excuse, right?
I like to use twitterfeed to automatically syndicate my content through my rss feed to twitter and facebook.
Thanks for the video!

Hi Heather,
yeah, 11 minutes with talking, so rather 10 minutes or less when I do without talking. It’s easy to do and it’s easy not to do.
Thanks for stopping by.
Take care

Hi Oliver, Thanks for taking us through your steps of syndication. I have used Only Wire in the past but was quite disappointed with its performance. Not only that but it took a long time to load, hence slowing my blog down uncomfortably!
Thanks for sharing your tips. Jayne

Hi Jayne,
I still don’t have the fastest blog, but it became a lot faster after I dropped the Onlywire-plugin, that’s really true. So I do in the way I described in the video and it works pretty well.
Thanks for your initial comment on my blog.
Take care

This was a handy one to go back and watch Oliver. Thanks for posting it up again.
It’s really worth the effort to get some good syndication going across bookmarking sites – there’s serious traffic potential.
Looking forward to sharing more on this topic with you…
All the best,
Jym

Hi Jym,
it’s very important, can’t be over-estimated. If we work closely together in this field on a regular basis and over a longer period of time, the Slight Edge effect of compounding will set in.
Thanks for your appreciative comment.
Take care
