Here’s the lesson plan about Think and grow rich – Organized planning I sent to my mastermind group of the Mentoring for Free Mental Cleanse.

CHAPTER 7 “ORGANIZED PLANNING – THE CRYSTALLIZATION OF DESIRE INTO ACTION” THE SIXTH STEP TOWARDS RICHES

The chapter on “Organized Planning” of “Think and grow rich” is a very powerful and deep chapter.

It stresses from its beginning the importance of a mastermind group. How many people are saying:”I have read this book ten times.”

That is not the question. The question is: Have you ever read it as a member of a mastermind group ?

Nobody can make it alone. Being wealthy consists of two parts: Making money and retaining it. These parts are very different from each other when it comes to the personal requirements one has to fulfill to be successful in each of these parts.

It’s possible to make a lot of money alone, by working really hard and not spending any money.

But is it also possible to work hard to keep money or to even grow it ?

True wealth is created if we have money work for us (or a system or other people)

So if we try to become wealthy on our own, we will have to work hard in order for us to make it, to keep it and to grow it.

Is it true wealth if we always have to work hard no matter if we have money or not ?

So we are well advised to start from the beginning with a team, with a mastermind group.

A team and a mastermind group already facilitate the process of making the money.

If we got accustomed from the beginning of our journey to being part of a team, to asking for advice and following it, to choosing advisors and deciding which ones are good and which are bad, it’s an excellent training for the time once we’ve got the money in our hands or in our bank account.

We learn which people we should trust and which people we shouldn’t trust – as long as we don’t have any or little money. So it’s easier to find trustworthy people as soon as we’ve got plenty.

This is best summed up by Napoleon Hill himself in Think and grow rich – Organized Planning: “No individual has sufficient experience, education, native ability, and knowledge to insure the accumulation of a great fortune, without the cooperation of other people.”

A mastermind group and a team will also help us create organized plans and follow through, that’s important because it’s through definite and organized plans that our desires are transmuted into their physical equivalent, in this case money.

It will also help us to change our plans when it comes to overcoming temporary defeat which otherwise easily could become permanent failure.

Without the help of a mastermind group, changing plans often equals giving up on our dreams whereas we only needed to choose another vehicle.

For example, if I planned to travel from my home-town to Berlin, I would drive to the airport in Stuttgart with my car and enter a plane there.

If pilots were on strike, would I cancel the journey ? Or would I travel by train or by car ?

OK, by train or car, chances are I reach my destination a bit later, but I would reach it – and that’s what counts.

If “pilots are on strike” in any other endeavour in our lives, why do we give up our destination so easily ? Why don’t we simply choose another means of transport ?

Mr. Phileas Fogg in Jule Verne’s famous novel Around the world in eighty days didn’t care whether he rode on the back of an elephant, by train or by steam boat.

And he came back to London just in time, didn’t he, despite all kinds of trouble. He was even supposed to be arrested because he matched the description of a bank robber and Passepartout – his servant – got kidnapped by Indians.

He took the time to rescue Aouda in India, from being sacrificed – who became his wife later.

He had an organized plan. Even if he wasn’t able to follow it thoroughly in every detail, he was able to decide whether he was on track or not, and so able to make corrections – and so eventually able to reach his destination – London. Does anyone care that it was on the very last second ?

What are the challenges we have to face in pur businesses ?

We don’t have “enough” leads – what is that compared to a Scotland Yard detective being after us because he mistakes us for a bank robber ?

People don’t join our businesses as we want them to join us – what is that compared to a railroad blocked by bisons, failing railroad bridges and an attack by Sioux Indians ?

In that time, there was no internet and no cell phone, just a reminder – and we become nervous when our cellphone runs out of power.

I know that I loved this story as a kid – apart from the book we had an LP record with this story. I remember that everybody of his club fellows was giving up on him because he didn’t arrive before time due. And I remember the moment Mr. Fogg enters the club on the very last second, like a gentleman and as if it hadn’t been anything, with the precision of a Swiss clockwork – no second too soon, no second too late.

Did Mr. Fogg give up on his goal in any moment of the journey ? Absolutely no. It’s a perfect example of what desire, faith and organized planning can do, combined with persistence and emotional control.

Wow, now I wrote a lesson plan about “Around the world in eighty days” and not “Think and grow rich” – but isn’t it a perfect fit ?

    Hey Oliver,

Awesome, I really love this post.

Th point about working with a mastermind group is such a powerful one. I know it took me a long time to understand the need for then allow myself to properly participate in a team, rather than going it alone. I know many others have this same problem in the early stages too.

Looking back, this situation has a flavor of Robert Kiyosaki’s ‘S’ quadrant, where the small business owner is indispensible and chained to the business which only he or she can run.

Great to see mention of ’80 days…’ as well. Having a clear plan and defined goals is imperative, but being able to adapt and adjust along the way is just as important.

    Thanks and all the best,

    Hi Jym,

great that you refer to Robert Kiyosaki’s S quadrant behaviour, that’s basically it.

I remember a Madonna concert. She sings:”We can make it alone. We can make it alone.” At the end of this song, she admits to her audience:”That was a lie. We can’t make it alone.”

  2. Hello Oliver,

As always, great insights you have here. I’m glad that you stressed the importance of the mastermind group and working as a team. As individuals, we will always be limited because we rely only on our own thoughts and ideas. By have a group, you learn new ideas from each other which will broaden your knowledge and will even inspire you to create better and more powerful idea. That’s the very essence of joining a group. I’m glad I did.

    Cheers to that,

awesome. The things you do and the performance you provide to your followers, friends and readers can’t be done without the aid of a mastermind group, a well-selected mastermind group.

Another amazing lesson plan Oliver. I really enjoyed reading it. It was a shame I didn’t get to hear it on the Mental Cleanse call.

A great interpretation of the chapter. We need a map, a plan, to travel together. But it doesn’t mean it has to be perfect. Actually we should allow for opportunities to change the plan. As long as you have that “X” marked on the map and have a good sense of the direction, you will get there.

Really, really great. I’m inspired after reading this.

    Take care,

Hey Oliver – i’ve been focusing specifically on this topic all week myself coincidentally… i think its easy to set goals and dream build visualize etc BUT planning is where its at – a goal without a plan is pointless and plans require time frames and accountability and measurability – Napolean Hill really does grasp the essence of success so well – hence Think and grow Rich’s enduring popularity

  7. A great post! Love the book Think and Grow Rich, this chapter is imperative!

I enjoyed your video Oliver. What a beautiful background with the snow! We don’t get much of that here in Southern California!

Thanks for the reminder on this great chapter!

    Hi Roshanda,

ah, Southern California. I’m not that much a winter fan, but if it’s like that, plenty of snow and cold, it’s really beautiful. When it starts raining and becoming warmer, the ugly part of winter starts as well.

Anyway, glad you liked my teaser video and the relevant post !

    Thanks for your comment.

Come back soon and take care
