Recently I asked you which books impacted you the most in your life and business.
I promised to share mine and to publish a list of “your books”.
Well, mine is the “Black Swan” by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. The link gets you the post that explains why.
Now let’s go ahead to your books:
–> Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker
–> Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen
–> Rich Dad/Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
–> The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles
–> Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill
–> A Rich Man’s Secret by Ken Roberts
–> Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman
–> Richest man in babylon by George S. Clason
–> The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
–> Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
–> Reframe Your Blame by Jay Fiset
–> The Greatest Networker in the World by John Milton Fogg
–> Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren
–> The Ultimate Success Secret by Dan Kennedy
–> Change your thoughts Change your life – the Wisdom of the Tao Te Ching
–> How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie
–> The difference maker by John C Maxwell
–> As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
–> The Answer by Jon Assaraf & Murray Smith
–> Influencer by Kerry Patterson & Joseph Grenny
I must say, I am blown away by your list. I know only a fraction of them – you find them in my recommended reading list on this blog, together with some others.
Thank you very much for sharing your books !
As a result of me asking you this question, my list of books to be reading has been growing menacingly.
The non-read books in a library are called “Umberto Eco’s anti-library” by the author of the Black Swan, Nassim Nicholas Taleb. Nothing to worry about, on the contrary
By the way, the hyperlinked book titles and/or names above get you to relevant posts on my blog about these books and authors.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
At the moment I am prepraing some posts about my realizations I had due to “The Black Swan”.
OK, my mind is preparing them, as they only exist in my mind at the moment.
Might take some time. Stay tuned. I’ll keep you posted.
Personal development lesson: If you read only one of these books per month in the next 12 months, who would you be in a year from now ?
What is your opinion ?
I always love your feedback, so please leave me a comment down below with questions, thoughts, or feedback.
And (yes, here’s my call to action) please share this post with your Twitter and Facebook friends by clicking on the share buttons above.
I appreciate you telling others.
To a prosperous life,

Hi Mavis,
a chapter a day keeps the doctor away, so to speak. I like that attitude.
Thanks for your comment.

I think I missed your last post Oliver when you asked which books impacted you the most in your life and business. I will go back and check them out but I’m just like you, I only know a fraction of the books in this list.
I think I will be a much more business oriented and positive man if I was to read one of these books each month in the next 12 months. Thanks for sharing the book that has had the biggest impact on your life, I plan on reading the “Black Swan” one day.

Thanks for this great list Oliver,
Well done for attracting all those great suggestions. Some I know, but there’s plenty which have to be added to my list!
Love your question – I’m sure anyone who read one of these each month for 12 months would be well on the way to transformation by the end!
All the best,
Jym

Hi Oliver,
I’m thrilled to have read many of the books on your list. Many of them I had forgotten that I had read. I wish I had kept a journal of the books I’ve read and some golden nuggets from each of them. I know that my personal development journey these past 5 years has completely changed who I am.
Thanks for giving me some new additions to my list! I so appreciate it!
I’m now reading The Talent Code by Dan Coyle. Based on what I know about you, Oliver, I bet you’ll love it. It was recommend by Ann Sieg and it talks about how deep learning and how talent hotbeds accelerate learning. I think our tribe is a talent hotbed.
I’m blown away by it so far and it’s becoming a new favorite of mine.
Looking forward to more black swan nuggets!

Hi Heather,
thanks for your comment and the book recommendation. Sounds really interesting and you are right, our tribe is a talent hotbed (learned a new word)
I have all my read and my unread books that still matter to me in a shelf in my home-office (you see them in my videos I shoot from home) and in our living-room. The read ones look at me kindly and the others more menacingly.
But that’s OK, it reminds me of what I don’t know. It’s one of the most important ideas of the Black Swan that the unknown matters more than the known, especially the unknown unknown.
The flaw is that we tend to use data from the past – what we know – and project it into the future and average away the unknown – uncertainty – in addition to that – the best way to end up as a turkey.
It won’t be an easy ride to write about this book, compared to the Cashflow Quadrant for example.
Take care

Great post, Oliver! I have a list of Twenty Books on my blog from last month. Here is my list:
http://www.stevetheowl.com/2010/12/31/twenty-books-to-build-your-life/
I have read about a third of the books on your list, and I have liked some better than others, but I will definitely look out for some of these other books. I really like the idea of sharing each other’s reading lists!

Hi Steve,
thanks for your comment and sharing your list – I will check it out.
Sometimes it’s not about liking a book. How many books are challenging our beliefs so that we do not really like them ?

Awesome!
To be honest, I am not much of a reader. A book-reader that is. I have read very few books in my life.
People impact me. I have watched and learned from many successful people from a young age and picked as much as I could from them. Many of the books you have listed I have heard about. Never read them. They are excellent books, from what I hear!

Hi Brock,
key is that we learn to learn from other people’s mistakes and experiences. That can be done by reading books and/or observing and modelling people.
Thanks for your comment.
