Previous post about Twitter and Twitterfeed: Your blog comments on Twitter with Twitterfeed
How to tweet blog posts of your good friends automically: Would it be great to tweet new blog posts of your trustworthy friends automatically to Twitter every time they publish a new post ?
This can be done with Twitterfeed.
Watch this video how.
Here again the necessary steps:
1. Set up an account on twitterfeed
2. Click on create a new feed
3. Grab the RSS feed from someone’s blog and paste it in
4. Test the feed in order to see if it works.
5. Click on advanced settings
6. …Update frequency: 30 minutes
7. Enter your bit.ly settings.
8. Post content title only (or title and description)
9. Post prefix: RT @username (their user name not yours)
10. Post a suffix: for example #proveit2011 or something else. Or leave it blank.
11. Click: Continue to step 2
12. Choose Facebook and/or Twitter (authenticate accounts if you’re new): Without choosing an account, nothing will be posted to Twitter !
13. Click: All Done
That’s already it.
Usually Twitterfeed grabs the most recent post of this blog right away. So make sure that you don’t retweet it twice. I don’t know how Twitter would look upon this.
What is your opinion ?
I always love your feedback, so please leave me a comment down below with questions, thoughts, or feedback.

That is pretty cool, I would want to make sure they don’t go off the deep end and start blogging on how government is secretly ran by an alien race but yeah, very cool tip Oliver!

Hi Karlene,
normally every blog has that orange RSS symbol. If you move your mouse over that one, you can copy & paste the url of this blog’s RSS feed (right click on a PC or ctrl + mouse click on a Mac)
Alternatively, it should work with – taking your blog as an example – “http://www.karlenemiller.com/feed/” as well. You can test it with Twitterfeed if the feed works or not.
So for my blog the feed url would be:”http://www.askolivertausend.com/feed/”
You have to copy and paste this feed address in the relevant field in Twitterfeed – and then hit test feed in order for you to see if it works.
The feed name is only for your reference. I usually choose the name of the blog owner.
Does that help ?
Thanks for your comment.
Take care

Hi Christina,
you rock, my 1/2 German friend, awesome – I didn’t know that. Pretty cool.
Your question and the answer:
1. Open a bit.ly account or log into your existing account.
2. Click on your username next to your picture at the right top of the page.
3. Then click on settings.
4. Then you see the API key, copy it.
5. Paste the API key into the relevant field on Twitterfeed.
That’s it.
Feel free to ask any question you might have.
Take care

Hi Mavis,
thanks for your comment and your feedback. Glad you liked the information and the way I presented it.
The vertical sharing box is great, I even added two boxes (Linkedin and comments) without an cluttered impression (at least in my opinion). The main sheet where the posts are is cleaner now, that is important also.
Great that you added my blog to your Twitterfeed automation, it’s awesome to already see 5 retweets a few minutes after the publication of a post.
Have an awesome week.
Take care
Oliver

Hi Heather,
thanks for your appreciation. Everybody benefits from it – I got a new post and video idea, and people’s questions got answered. It’s definitely a good thing to combine a video tutorial with text instructions – so both parts of the brain are adddressed.
Thanks again for your comment.

Thanks Oliver, I am currently going through and trying to add a couple of people at a time. For some reason, I find it difficult to find the feed to copy… but usually its the website domain /feed I believe….don’t know why this seems so difficult. LOL… I will get used to it I hope. Thanks for this great piece of information! Jayne

Hi Jayne,
that’s true – on every blog the symbol is some place else…but by adding “/feed” to the domain you should be fine. And you can test the feed.
Thanks for your comment.
