Previous post in this series: Comfort Zone Vs. Growth Zone Pt. 1: What Is So Comfortable In The Comfort Zone ?

In my previous post, we learned that the so called comfort zone can be pretty uncomfortable in the long run because we resist the change that is necessary – which costs energy and produces results that become more and more undesirable.

Once we embrace change and take on the lessons that life presents us, we are in the growth zone.

It’s called personal development.

I started my conscious personal development four years ago. I didn’t do it reluctantly but I thought that I would be done after one long-term seminar that lasted 12 months.

I learned pretty fast and realized that personal development and growth are part of a lifelong learning process that only ends when we die.

So it might be a good idea to become comfortable in the zone of personal growth.

That doesn’t mean that you should create the challenges for the very purpose to solve them.

But we should become more and aware of our intuition and start learning before we screw up and are forced to learn.

Learning and growing voluntarily is the key.

That is completely different for every single human being on this planet:

If you are like me, you always want to learn more and grow more – for you (and me) it might be a good idea to really enjoy your successes and do nothing for a while. Don’t forget to harvest ! Learn to enjoy and be lazy even if it sounds like torture. If you had a good harvest in autumn, there’s no point in planting new seeds right away. You need rest, and so does the soil.

If you are a rather complacent person (which is not bad per se) you might want to get started again before you run out of money again, for example. What if a farmer decided not to plant seeds in spring only because he had a good harvest in autumn ? Not a good idea, right ?

Strengthen your strengths and weaken your weaknesses by focusing on the strenghts.

Become comfortable outside your comfort zone !

What is your opinion ?

    Hi Oliver,

It took me a little while to get comfortable with the thought of “Personal Development.” I wasn’t brought up that way and actually thought my husband was nuts to listen to all the tapes by Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Napoleon Hill, etc.

It wasn’t until I started my journey in network marketing that I developed a ‘taste’ for improving myself. My Mom always said, “Wo nix is’ da wird nix.” (For our English speaking friends, “Where there’s nothing, nothing will come of it.”

Personal development is absolutely necessary if we want to grow a successful business. We need to work on ourselves FIRST and constantly need to feed our minds with positive stimulation.

So yes, like you, I love to learn and I love to improve myself and like you already said above…it will only stop when I die.

    Awesome post!

    Hi Ilka,

I wasn’t brought up that way either although my dad is interested in that kind of stuff, for my mother it’s a taboo.

Personal development is absolutely crucial, I couldn’t agree more.

Thanks for sharing your personal insights, I appreciate that.

    Take care

gosh Oliver you’ve taken a few of the words out of my mouth for a post I’m working on pertaining to personal development. Obviously I’m kind of fond of the topic… hence my business choice.

What is funny though is I haven’t always realized the importance. It was only these last handful of years I’ve truly understood the benefits. I think a lot of it has to do with having to grow into certain changes. Now of course I realize we all need personal growth in every aspect of our life regardless of our chosen industry.

    Great job.
