Previous lesson plan: Think And Grow Rich – Oliver Tausend Reads His Lessons – Auto Suggestion Pt. 1
How healthy is self talk ?
As you might know, I’m part of an awesome mastermind group called the Mental Cleanse. We’re reading Think and grow rich together, week by week, chapter by chapter.
Every week, we’re posting our personal lessons learned from the relevant chapter to our public Mental Cleanse forum.
Our mentor Michael Dlouhy, author of the fantastic MLM e-book “Success in 10 steps” reads them all and picks 5-7 lesson plans that are different from each other, not better or worse, but different.
On the call, the authors of lesson plans picked read their lessons on the conference call (there are two – at 3 PM and 8 PM US Eastern Time)
Last week, there was a Novum: He picked not less than 12 lesson plans – impossible to read them in an hour.
So Michael suggested to run a second lap on chapter 4 about auto-suggestion – the lessons picked offered so much food for thought. So this made perfect sense.
Let’s first see what Napoleon Hill says in the first paragraph of this chapter:”AUTO-SUGGESTION is a term which applies to all suggestions and all self-administered stimuli which reach one’s mind through the five senses. Stated in another way, autosuggestion is self-suggestion. It is the agency of communication between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and that which serves as the seat of action for the subconscious mind. Through the dominating thoughts which one permits to remain in the conscious mind, (whether these thoughts be negative or positive, is immaterial), the principle of auto-suggestion voluntarily reaches the subconscious mind and influences it with these thoughts.”
Now enjoy my lesson from reading this chapter and thinking about it a second time within a week:

[...] Oliver Tausend Think And Grow Rich – Oliver Tausend Reads His Lessons – Auto Suggestion Pt. 2 [...]
Hello Oliver, I have not read much on this but I gather that, only suggestions that are made to our subconscious minds via some subliminal method (like suggestions while hypnotized, for example) are ones that can ultimately change us. If this is true, then everybody that is running around thinking and reciting positive affirmations over and over again (on the conscious level) is just wasting their time, right?

Hi Joseph,
it doesn’t get us very far to talk to the conscious level, that’s true. What the best and/or only way to talk to the subconscious mind, I don’t know. I also don’t know if subliminal methods are the only one that work.
Probably it’s a better way to work with our subconscious mind, I mean it’s simply about correcting some assumptions we made and that are not true but became true. What do you think ?
Thanks for your thought-provoking comment, appreciate that.
Take care
Oliver

Hi Oliver hope you are well.
@Joseph you are probably correct all those people just stating thing over and over again with out putting emotion into their thought, will be wasting their time.
I think Auto suggestion is happening all the time as we speak to ourselves.
As it says in Think and Grow Rich
“The dominating thoughts that WE permit to remain in our conscious mind mind whether they be positive or negative is immaterial they will reach and influence the subconscious mind, through the Law of auto Suggestion”.
We have Absolute control over the information that is allowed into our subconscious mind, However I am not saying it is easy to control those thoughts but it is our duty to try and auto suggestion is the way that we influence our subconscious.
So those people who are trying to help themselves through the power of auto suggestion keep going this stuff works.
We get exactly what we ask for! Through the Power of auto suggestion.
Subliminal messages work as well and are a good way to talk to your subconscious with out your conscious mind putting up barriers.

Hi Graham,
thanks for your powerful and thoughtful comment.
We have the control of the information we let enter into our subconscious. But we didn’t have this power when we were children. That means, our suconscious mind still harbours thoughts from our childhood we wouldn’t allow into it today. But we have the power of our emotional interpretation of this programming today. Do we keep criticizing our programmers or did we forgive them ?
Take care
Oliver
